Faith that Matters, Part 1

Every Fall I like to review our mission and come up with a few goals to strive for during the course of the school year.  So last night's message was about just that.  Our mission at Grace Bible Church's youth ministry is that we exist to:  build a solid faith in students that impacts their relationships in the church, community and our world for Christ.  This week we focused on the part that says "impacts their relationships in our church, community."  We focused on three disciples who exemplified those relationships impacted:  Tabitha (Dorcas) and Priscilla and Aquila.

Tabitha (Acts 9:36-39) impacted her community by making clothes for the poor.  [Spoiler alert!] She ends up dying.  So many people were upset by her death that they pleaded with Peter to come and do something about it.  He did.  God miraculously brought her back to life through Peter!

Priscilla and Aquila (Acts 18:2-3; Acts 18:18; Acts 18:26; Romans 16:3; 1 Corinthians 16:19; 2 Timothy 4:19) are examples of disciples who impacted the church.  They taught, they were an encouragement to the apostle Paul, and they had a home church in two of the cities they lived in!

My questions to the teenagers last night were:  how is the church and community different because you're alive and if you didn't exist how would the church and community be different?  Those are really tough questions for any of us to answer, but it makes us think about what we are doing to make an impact for Jesus.

What goals does your family have?  What mission would you say your family has?  Are there things your family does that impacts the church?  The community?
